South Andover
Beautiful South Andover is one of the largest neighborhoods in appealing Andover. Located south of downtown, the area is bisected by Rt. 125, offering commuters easy access to Rt. 495 and I-93. For an even simpler commute to Boston, many savvy residents take the MBTA Commuter Rail at the Ballardville stop, set in the middle of this desirable community. There’s plenty to do locally in this inviting neighborhood, from the fun Ballardville Playground and South Elementary School to Foster’s Island Nature Track, which wraps around the serene Pomp’s Pond.
Due to the size of the neighborhood, the district offers a variety of lovely homes. From spacious ranches to cute capes, and newly constructed colonials, there are perfect homes to suit any prospective homebuyer. Ideal South Andover was built up over time, so it is not unusual to see historic houses from as far back as the 1700s, yet at the same time many beautiful homes were also constructed in the 1950s or 1970s. Certainly there is also handsome new construction in this charming vicinity. Due to the many options of home styles, ages, and sizes, prices in South Andover can vary greatly. While occasionally offering some affordable homes under $400,000, some of the stunning larger homes in South Andover have been known to sell for over $2 million.
