Nutting Lake, Neighborhood

Nutting Lake is a neighborhood in southern Billerica that surrounds the body of water from which it gets its name. Most of the homes in the area are located in quiet neighborhoods off of Lexington Road and the Middlesex Turnpike. The main roads in these neighborhoods are Friendship Street, Lake Street, and Canterbury Street.

Nutting Lake is less than a mile east of the Northwest Expressway (Route 3), which runs from Interstate 95 in the south to Interstate 495 in the North. Interstate 93, which takes travelers straight into Boston.

The homes near Nutting Lake consist mostly of Colonials, ranches, split entry, and Dutch-style houses. Most of these residences have 2-4 bedrooms, multiple bathrooms, and a private driveway or garage. Many of the homes have a scenic view of the lake, but those that don’t are still within walking distance of its coast.

Nutting Lake, which is bisected by the Middlesex Turnpike, is Billerica’s largest body of water and a popular place among locals who enjoy swimming and fishing. This lake is the site of Micozzi Beach, where visitors will find picnic areas, a volleyball court, basketball hoops, playground, and large sandy area that’s great for suntanning. The beach is always supervised by a lifeguard and visitors can rent canoes, kayaks, and fishing rods. The lake is home to a variety of species of fish, but you’ll find mostly pickerel and bass.

Nutting Lake is just a couple miles south of the Shops at Billerica, the town’s largest shopping area and the site of a grocery store, and many excellent stores and eateries. The lake is also about a ten minute drive north of the many shopping malls and plazas that line the Middlesex Turnpike in Burlington, Massachusetts. Along a two-mile stretch of road, you’ll find 3rd Ave Burlington, Burlington Square, Burlington Mall, and Middlesex Commons.Â
