Merrimack River travels more than one hundred miles through Massachusetts and parts of New Hampshire. The river features many ramps where the public can launches their boats, whether motorized or car tops.

There are many homes for sale near the Merrimack River, varying in size and style to suit your needs. You can find larger Colonials and Capes as well as smaller cottages, many of which are located right on the water. There are also many condominium complexes on the southern side of the river in northern Chelmsford, Massachusetts. Williamsburg Condos, Windemere at Chelmsford, and many others are either right on the coast of the river of within a few miles of it.

The Lowell-Dracut-Tyngsboro State Forest is located just a couple miles north of the Merrimack River. This forest, which covers territory in each of the three cities where it gets its name, features a network of trails used for hiking, biking, and horseback riding. In the winter months, visitors can also ride snowmobiles or go cross country skiing at this forest. The Vesper Country Club, which features a private golf course, tennis courts, swimming pool, and more, also hugs the north coast of this river.

There are many excellent shopping centers south of the Merrimack River in both Lowell and Chelmsford. Lowell offers an exciting city atmosphere and is the site of the Middlesex Plaza Shopping Center, a group of outdoor plazas near the intersection of Wood Street and Middlesex Street. The town of Chelmsford also features outdoor shopping plazas such as the Drum Hill Shopping Center and East Gate Plaza as well as a large indoor shopping mall called the Chelmsford Mall.
