The Town of Franklin is located in Norfolk County, and occupies some 27 square miles with a population of more than 32,000. It lies less than 30 miles southwest of Boston, 25 miles southeast of Worcester and 20 miles northeast of Providence. It has Route 140 and Route 495 as main connectors as well as two MBTA train stations with service to Boston’s South Station. The quality of Franklin’s schools is part of the reason that “Family Circle Magazine” named Franklin as one of the top ten towns in the United States to raise a family.
Franklin is home to the first public library, to which Benjamin Franklin donated his own books. Across the street from the library is the beautiful 100-acre Dean College campus with Gothic architecture and an historic gymnasium. For sports fans, Foxborough (home of Gillette Stadium and the New England Patriots) is only a 15-minute drive away. Franklin is a small New England town, yet close enough to work in Boston or Providence. Residents contribute to the community by fostering good neighborhoods and community spirit. Franklin has a true sense of history, and a look and feel that makes one proud to call it home.
