There are several different unit designs at Highwood Condominiums, including garden-style condos, townhouses, and ranch-style residences. This condominium complex is about a mile north of Franklin Village Plaza, a small shopping plaza along Route 140. There are a few other small shopping plazas that can be found by traveling east down Central Street. Residents of Highwood Condominiums can continue traveling east down Route 140 into Wrentham, Massachusetts, the site of Wrentham Village Premium Outlets. This outdoor plaza features more than 100 outstanding restaurants and shops. Patriot Place can also be found a bit further east of Wrentham.

Highwood is within a few miles of the northernmost point of Franklin State Forest, a large 800 acre state forest with many miles of biking, hiking, and off-roading trails. Just east of Franklin State Forest in Chilson Park, a small public park that features a public beach on the northern side of Beaver Pond. Along Route 140 locals will also find the Franklin Country Club Golf Course, Wrentham State Forest, and a large woodland area made up a handful of smaller public parks and forests in Wrentham, Massachusetts.
