As its name indicates, Millville was originally a mill town that grew up on the Blackstone River as part of the town of Blackstone. Now rural/residential, it is located in the heart of the Blackstone River Valley, between Worcester, Massachusetts and Providence, Rhode Island. This valley is the birthplace of the American Industrial Revolution.
The population of Millville's five square miles was 2,960 at the 2009 census. Millville had several manufacturing shops when it became a town in 1916, the most prominent being the U.S. Rubber Co. Today, Millville is a small, rural community that celebrates its industrial past as an active participant in the Blackstone River Valley National Heritage Corridor.
