Located in Middlesex County about 40 miles outside of Boston, Pepperell is a small to medium size town with a population of just under 11,500. Pepperell is 22.9 square miles, and the Nissitissit River and Nashua River join within the town. In years past the two rivers fed the mills built in Pepperell, including the production of paper, boots, and shoes. Like many towns in the area, Pepperell’s industries largely disappeared in the 20th century, and it is now primarily a bedroom community. The Nashua River rail system has also been converted into a trail for walking and biking within Pepperell.
Route 111, Route 113, and Route 119. Pepperell borders Dunstable, Groton, Townsend, Brookline (NH), and Hollis (NH).
