Most of the homes near Dean Park are located within a quarter mile of its west side in a small neighborhood off of Main Street. This neighborhood is an enclosed circle formed by Carlton Street, Woodway Drive, Brookway Drive, and East Avenue. There are a variety of homes near the park including Colonials and split-entry houses with 3 or more bedrooms and ranches with 2-3 bedrooms. Dean Park is just a short drive away from many other local public parks including Prospect Park, Rawson Hill, Cold Harbor Brook, and Hop Brook. Ski Ward Ski Area, one of the area’s most popular ski slopes, is only a mile east away on Main Street. Those who enjoy fishing, swimming, boating, and other water activities can make a short drive west to Lake Quinsigamond, which separates Shrewsbury from Worcester. There are also a couple of golf courses in the area such as Juniper Hill and Cyprian Keyes, which caters to the public.

Dean Park is conveniently located within a couple miles of Shrewsbury Crossing and Northborough Crossing, two outdoor shopping plazas that features dozens of excellent stores and restaurants. Many more shopping centers can be found along the Boston Turnpike such as Westmeadow Plaza and Stagecoach Plaza, the site of a Regal Cinema. Locals are also just a short drive away from the city atmosphere of Worcester in the west and Framingham in the east.

Those living near Dean Park can quickly travel into Boston via the Boston Turnpike and the Mass Pike, both of which are just a short drive from the park. There are many other highways nearby, including Route 140 and the Hartford Turnpike, which make it easy for locals to travel and commute to work.
