Highland Hills is a neighborhood of large homes south of North Street in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts. The main road in the neighborhood is Meadow Hill Road, which branches off into Laurel Ridge Lane and Highland Hill Drive, both of which are cul-de-sacs. Interstate 290 and Route 140 are less than a mile away from this neighborhood, making it an excellent location for work commuters.
The homes in Highland Hills are mostly large Colonials with 4 or more bedrooms and multiple bathrooms. Many of these homes have an attached garage, a large fireplace, and a private porch, deck, or patio. This quiet area has very little through traffic and sidewalks throughout the neighborhood, making it a great neighborhood to walk the dog or go for a jog.
This neighborhood is centrally located between many of Shrewsbury’s most popular public parks including Prospect Park, Rawson Hill, Cold Harbor Brook, Hop Brook, and Dean Park. Each of these parks feature many trails for walking, hiking, or cycling, while Dean Park also features a small fishing pond and a few athletic fields. Ski Ward Ski Area, a popular complex of ski slopes, is also just a couple miles away from Highland Hills. Those who enjoy golfing can play a round at one of the many nearby courses including Green Hill Golf Course, Cyprian Keyes Golf Club, and Juniper Hill Golf Course.
Those living at Highland Hills are just a short drive away from the center of Worcester, Massachusetts’ second largest city. Here, visitors will find many excellent shopping centers such as Lincoln Plaza and the Greendale Mall as well as many performing arts centers including Palladium, Mechanics Hall, and the Hanover Theatre. Locals can also find many excellent shopping plazas along the Boston-Worcester Turnpike (Route 9) in Shrewsbury. This street is the site of White City Shopping Center, Stagecoach Plaza, and Westmeadow Plaza. The Boston Turnpike also travels all the way east into Boston, Massachusetts.
