Rawson Hill, Shrewsbury

Rawson Hill is a small woodland area in northern Shrewsbury, Massachusetts. The western side of the hill is the site of the Shrewsbury Sportsman Club, which participates in many outdoor activities and hosts events at their function hall. Rawson Hill Brook also runs throughout the area. Most of the homes near Rawson Hill are located in a small neighborhood off of one of the area’s main roads including Hill Street, Prospect Street, and Boylston Street. One of the larger neighborhoods in the area is located north of the hill on Birch Brush Road, Deerfield Road, Rawson Hill Drive, and Barnard Street.

Most of the neighborhoods in the area have very little through traffic and sidewalks on either side of the road.

Rawson Hill is about a ten minute drive away from Lake Quinsigamond, which divides western Shrewsbury from eastern Worcester. This lake is an excellent place to go fishing for salmon, bass, and trout as well as go swimming at Quinsigamond State Park. Visitors also have access to many public boat ramps along the coast of the lake. There are also many golf courses in the area such as Cyprian Keyes, Green Hill, and Juniper Hill. Ski Ward Ski Area, the town’s most popular ski slope complex, is also only a few miles south of the neighborhoods near Rawson Hill.

There are many excellent shopping centers near Rawson Hill in Shrewsbury, Marlborough, and Worcester. Locals can drive down Route 140 to the Boston Turnpike, along which White City Shopping Center, Shrewsbury Crossing, and many other shopping plazas are located. The neighborhoods in this area are also just a short drive away from Shops at the Pond and Solomon Pond, both of which are about fifteen minutes away in Marlborough. Lincoln Plaza, Greendale Mall, and the exciting city atmosphere of Worcester are all about ten miles west of this area.
