Sherwood Nottingham is a subdivision of houses in northern Spencer, Massachusetts. This neighborhood is located north of Thompson Pond Road on Sherwood Drive and Nottingham Circle, which form an enclosed circle with no through traffic. Locals can take Route 31, which is less than a mile west of the neighborhood, south into the center of Spencer, where they’ll find the local library, post office, and Spencer’s Shoppers Village, the town’s largest shopping center. The area features a grocery store and pharmacy as well as many local banks and businesses.

Sherwood Nottingham is less than a mile west of Thompson Pond, a freshwater pond that’s popular among local boaters and fishermen. Visitors can ride motorboats, canoes, kayaks, and paddleboards on the water or fish for bluegill, perch, bass and more along the coast. Swimmers are also welcome at the pond. Those who enjoy being out on the water can also head to Brooks Pond Beach, which is a few miles west of this neighborhood.

There are also many state parks and golf courses near Sherwood Nottingham. Oakham State Forest, Spencer State Forest, and Boynton Park are all just a short drive away. Each of these parks feature trails for hiking and biking as well as areas to observe nature or enjoy a picnic. Golfers can head a few miles east towards Leicester and play a round at Kettle Brook Golf Club or Strawberry Hills Golf Course.

Sherwood Nottingham is about a fifteen minute drive away from both Worcester and Auburn, two of the larger cities in central Massachusetts. Worcester is known for its fast-paced, urban atmosphere while Auburn is known for its many shopping malls along Route 12 such as Auburn Mall, Heritage Mall, and Federal Plaza Shopping Center. Locals can also head into Boston by taking the Mass Pike, which is located a short drive south of Spencer, about an hour east.
