Located in Worcester County, the small town of Sterling is located west of Boston. Sterling has roughly 7,800 residents who reside within its 31.6 square mile territory. This includes the private, well-off neighborhood of Waushacum Village, which has some utilities separate from the rest of the town. Sterling offers plenty for its residents to do, from swimming and boating at Sholan Park during the summer, to skiing on Wachusett Mountain every winter. Sterling is even home to its own petting zoo at the Davis Farmlands.
Sterling shares its borders with the neighboring towns of Leominster, West Boylston, Princeton, Holden, Lancaster, Clinton, and Boylston. Routes 12, 62, 140, and 110 run through Sterling, as does I-190.
