Greendale is an an area of homes in Worcester that lies just north of the center of the city. Route 12 runs vertically throughout the area, bisecting it roughly in half. On-ramps to Interstate 190 and Interstate 290 are roughly two miles south, which makes traveling throughout central Massachusetts convenient. Interstate 290 also connects directly to the Mass Pike, the largest state highway in Massachusetts which can take drivers east to Boston or west to the New York border.
The homes in Greendale are mostly located in quiet streets off of Burncoat Street, Mountain Street, and Route 12, the three main roads in the area. There are many homes in the area, which greatly vary in style and size. You can find larger, 4 bedroom Colonials, medium-sized 2-3 bedroom Capes and ranches, as well as cozy, 1-2 bedroom cottages and townhouses.
Greendale’s main shopping attraction is the Greendale Mall, an indoor shopping mall that features over 25 stores and restaurants. Another popular shopping center, the Lincoln Plaza, is just a short drive from this area. Lincoln Plaza, the site of a Kohl’s, Stop & Shop, Target, and Lowe’s, is an outdoor shopping area. Residents can also enjoy the many local businesses and eateries, including Greendale Pub and Road Runner Pizza, along Route 12.
Greendale is surrounded by natural attractions, making it a great place to live for anyone who enjoys being active and getting outside. Bovenzi Conservation Park and Nick’s Woods, both of which are a few miles to the west, are great for hiking, biking, birdwatching, over having a picnic. These neighborhoods are also conveniently located between two popular golf courses, Green Hill Golf Course and Worcester Country Club. The former is a public, 18-hole course at the northern end of a public park. The latter is a historic golf course that’s part of a large, private country club that also features an athletic complex and dining area.
