Newton Square

Newton Square is an area of western Worcester between Tatnuck and the center of the city. The main roads in the area are Pleasant Street and June Street, which directly connects to Route 122. Most of the homes in the area are off of these main roads in quiet streets, with little through-traffic.

The homes in Newton Square vary in size and style, including Colonials, Capes, Tudors and ranches. These houses have between 2-6 bedrooms and 1-5 bathrooms. Many residences in the area have a private driveway or garage as well as a large lawn. Plots of land less than an acre in size are also for sale in the area.

The east side of Newton Square is the site of Newton Hill and Elm Park, an outdoor complex that features tennis courts, basketball courts, jogging paths, Lincoln Pond, and a small stage where concerts are held annually. There are many other public parks and nature conservations in the area including Cascades West Conservation Area, Upton State Forest, and Green Hill Park, which also features an 18-hole golf course. Those who enjoy golfing can also play a round at Tatnuck Country Club and Kettle Brook Golf Club.

There are many popular local businesses and restaurants on the eastern side of Newton Square along Park Avenue. Mill Street Plaza, a large outdoor plaza, is just a little further south down the road. Worcester’s Greendale Mall, South Plaza, and White City Shopping Center are also just a short drive from this neighborhood.

Newton Square’s central location between many state routes and highways makes it an ideal location for anyone who commutes to work regularly. Routes 9, 12, and 122 as well as I-190 and I-290 are all within a few miles of the area. The Mass Pike, which can take you to Boston in about an hour, can be accessed about 15 minutes south of this neighborhood.
