North Worcester

North Worcester is characterized as the area of the city north of Route 9 and Salisbury Street. Interstate 90 and 290, as well as Routes 12, 70, and 122A run through this part of the city, making it easy for locals to travel throughout the state and for commuters to get to work. There are all types of home in North Worcester, so you’ll be able to find exactly what you’re looking for. This area is the site of many quiet neighborhoods, such as Oak Ridge Estates and White Birch Commons, most of which feature spacious, 3-5 bedroom Colonials with multiple bathrooms. Smaller 1-2 bedroom townhouses and condos as well as plots of land for building a new house can be found here too. There are also a handful of waterfront residents that overlook Indian Lake.

Many of the city’s most popular natural attractions can be found in North Worcester. Most notably is Indian Lake, which is located on the western side of the area. Indian Lake is a 200-acre body of water and the site of two popular public beaches —  Indian Lake Park and Shore Park. Both of these beaches, which are supervised by lifeguards, have sandy areas to lie in the sun, picnic areas to enjoy a meal, and, of course, areas to swim. Bovenzi Conservation Park, which has many trails for hiking, biking, and birdwatching, can be found just west of Route 12. Green Hill Park, which features even more trails, picnic areas, and a public 18-hole golf course, is located on the outskirts of North Worcester. Two of Worcester’s most popular shopping centers, Lincoln Plaza and Greendale Mall, can be found in the northern area of the city. Greendale Mall is an indoor shopping mall with upwards of 25 eateries and shops.
