South Worcester

South Worcester is the area of the city that lies south of Chandler Street and Madison Street, running all the way down to Route 20. Route 12 as well as Route 146 and Interstate 290 both of which connect directly to the Mass Pike (I-90), run through the city, making the area a great place to live for commuters and those who like traveling throughout the state. There many different styles and sizes of homes in South Worcester to choose from in South Worcester. The area features 3-5 bedroom Colonials, 2-3 bedroom ranches and Capes, as well as many duplex-style residences. Those looking for something a bit smaller can choose between a number of condominium complexes in the area such as Parkside Condominiums and Hadwen Park Place, both of which offer 1-2 bedroom condos.

There are plenty of shopping options in South Worcester, including three large shopping plazas: Webster Square Plaza, Mill Street Plaza, and The Worcester Fair. Each of these shopping centers has something unique to offer, including grocery stores, and many of restaurants. Locals can make a quick drive south into Auburn, Massachusetts, where they’ll find the Auburn Plaza Shopping Center and Auburn Mall, which together offer over 100 shops and eateries. The Shoppes At Blackstone Valley in Millbury, MA, the site of a movie theater as well as many shops and restaurants, is also just south of this area. South Worcester is well-known for its historic complex of cemeteries. This includes St. John’s Cemetery, Bnai Brith Cemetery, New Swedish Cemetery, and Hope Cemetery. West of Hope Cemetery is Hadwen Park, the site of many sports fields, walking and biking paths, and the Kettle Brook, a narrow brook that feeds into Leesville Pond. Locals who enjoy golf can head a couple miles south to Pakachoag Golf Course in Auburn, or a few miles north to Green Hill Golf Course in Worcester.
