West Side Worcester

The West Side of Worcester is the area of the city located west of Route 122A and Park Avenue. Tatnuck, Webster Square, Newton Square, and Salisbury Street can all be found in this area of Worcester. Routes 9, 12, and 122 all cross through this region, making it easy for locals to travel in and out of the center of the city. There are many homes in the West Side of Worcester, most of which are located in private neighborhoods, such as Westwood Hills, Winter Heights, Tatnuck Woods, and Hammond Heights, off of Salisbury Street and Pleasant Street. You can find spacious 4-7 bedroom Colonials, 2-4 bedroom Capes and ranches, as well as 1-3 bedroom condos and townhouses in condominium complexes. Many of the larger houses in the area have an attached and spacious yards.

There are a few public beaches in the West Side of Worcester, one at Coes Pond and two at Indian Lake, which is located on the northern edge of this region. All of these beaches have picnic areas and sandy areas for sun tanning. The two beaches at Indian Lake are also supervised by lifeguards during the day. Both lakes are good places to fish, but those looking for a bigger haul may want to drive a short distance east to Lake Quinsigamond or Wachusett Reservoir. Cascades East Conservation Area and Cook’s Woods, two public forests with hiking trails and paths to nature watch or bike, are located on the eastern edge of Worcester’s West Side. Larger state forests such as Spencer State Forest and Oakham State Forest are each about a ten minutes to the west, but well worth the drive.  Read More...
